Sun, Sea, And Sand!
Relax in tropical Thailand!
Inhabited beach areas in Pattaya, are divided into sections and the owner (for the most part families) of each lot is responsible for its operation, much the same as in restaurants. Beaches are actually free, but operators will charge you for the services they provide. The operators will serve you with food and drinks and will endeavour to make your stay pleasurable. A price is roughly twenty baht per chair, though bargaining is rather customary in Thailand.
Until sunset (leisure time), many fellow tourists are on the charming and hospitable Jomtien, beach, resting on reclining chairs with small tables and large umbrellas around. Some prefer on the golden sand close to the ocean, most prefer to be a bit farther back in the shade of nearby trees.
Everybody enjoys the services of the beach restaurants, or having long bargaining sessions with the local hucksters. Lots of vendors walk around the beaches selling their goods or services: food, fruit, drinks, ice creams, garments, handicrafts, newspapers etc. You can even book fishing, and speedboat, trips etc.
Thailand has many tropical fruit, and tasty Thai cuisine. Order a sea-food lunch (i.e. giant shrimps or king lobsters along with some cold beer), and the vendors will barbecue your lunch right in front of you and would serve it accompanied by special sauces and vegetables... you will be able to feel that aroma…
Other vendors offer beauty saloon services, hair-dressing, manicure, pedicure, or the much more relaxing body and mind physical massage. So, look around and see how skilful they are, and choose the vendor which you prefer.
Even if you're a king or a queen, leisure on Pattaya beach is hard work. A great deal of water sport activities is at hand: swimming, Jet-Ski, , water-skiing, windsurfing, speed-boats, parasailing, trips on longtails, and so on... Some however employ themselves playing intellectual table games: cards, domino, chess, backgammon etc.
The beach in central Pattaya is normally quite busy, with tourists relaxing under the umbrellas and having the occasional swim. A short taxi ride south which will cost you about twenty baht is the twenty kilometres long, Jomtien, beach which has several nice hideouts for those liking privacy. Furthermore, in less than an hour away by speedboat, is the beautiful Samet Island (Koh Samet in Thai), a real getaway, quiet and relaxing.
But be careful, there is no need to be in the sun to get tanned. It is unavoidable even in the shade. It is a wise precaution to use the sun protective lotions in this tropical heat. The temperatures in Pattaya average between thirty and forty degrees Celsius although it does not always feel that hot.
